Merida Reacto Disc 5000
We set out to create an incredible aero bike, but without the downsides often associated with the category such as harshness and complex solutions that waste workshop time.
The result was “astonishingly comfortable” (Design & Innovation award 2018) and describes as “fast and responsive” and “an absolute peach” (Road CC).
There is only 1 watt difference in efficiency between the calliper and disc brake version, very little sacrifice for the improved braking and extra wheel stiffness due to the 12mm bolt through axles.
The CF2 carbon frame has a slightly more relaxed geometry and more economic carbon fibre lay-up than the CF4. Tapered head tube, BB386 and 12mm bolt through axles for stiffness. Truncated NACA Fastback profile tubing for aerodynamics. Flat mount disc brake mounts with cooling fins, – 1150g M/L +/- 3%, fork = 420g
